Akiva Niran is your average teenager, entering her senior year at Community Tech High School. She has a secret crush on the class hottie, James Richardson, who’s fine, saved, sanctified, and thugged out. Kiva takes her relationship with God seriously and amidst everyday trials and temptations, she attempts to remain steadfast in the Word. While striving to be an example, Kiva also chides her brother, Justin, and cousin, Kristen, about sexual promiscuity and about the importance of being faithful to God’s word.
Called Out by Dara Nichole has a promising storyline. However, the delivery of the story itself was weak, unrealistic, too long and much too perfect. There were too many subplots within the story that remained unfinished. For example, Alex’s story, Justin’s storyline, and Olivia’s situation are all still open with no definite closure. Called Out was basically a lackluster read with no true excitement or interesting storylines.
