Sheltered all her life, seventeen-year-old Candace Hendricks thought she had all the answers. When she attends a rap concert that she was forbidden to attend, her life is changed forever. Candace finds herself in Texas with no family, a boyfriend that is no longer in the rap game and has turned back to selling drugs, and a bad feeling about who fathered the child she is carrying.
While attending community college, Candace meets Celestion "Tino" DeLeon. He is a good guy that makes Candace long for all that she knows she is missing out on. Candace keeps Tino at bay because she knows that she does not want him mixed up in the drama that is going on in her life. However, when she declares herself single, Tino is there waiting to give her some type of normalcy in her life. When things go from good
to bad to worse, can this good girl gone bad fine her way back home?
A Good Dude by Keith Thomas Walker is a novel that keeps it real. It gives you the good, the bad, and the ugly truth of what it's like when you get in too deep. Walker paints a vivid picture with his word choice and does a great job with character development. Walker also does a good job with keeping the plot flowing without lagging moments. A Good Dude is a pretty good read!
