Heartbreak of A Hustler’s Wife follows the main character Yarni Taylor, a well-respected corporate attorney and first lady of the renowned Good Life Ministry. Yarni has everything she wants, including a husband that has had her back through thick and thin, and a little girl by the name of Des. Yarni's life has done a 180 degree from the hustling lifestyle she was accustomed to, and things couldn’t be far from perfect...until a robbery of the congregation during church service changes her life forever. Yarni also has another surprise waiting at her door when an 18-year-old girl shows up claiming to be her husband’s daughter. With all of these things going on,Yarni has a lot on her plate. Will she keep her sanity, or has she finally had enough and grown tired of the hustling life?
Des is the minister of Good Life Ministry and is well respected within the community. This is not only because of his generosity of the less fortunate, but because he was a well-known hustler from back in the day. His credibility was impeccable and was a man of his word. Things take a turn for the worse when he is shot and almost killed and then the church is robbed at gunpoint during Sunday service. Des feels he is at a crossroads, and to make matters worse, he finds out he is father of an 18-year=old girl he had no knowledge about. Will Des keep his cool and find out who is out to destroy him, or is it time to give the game up for good?
Heartbreak of a Hustler’s Wife was another Nikki Turner classic. The twists and turns had me intrigued with Yarni Taylor’s life and her 'ride or die' attitude for her family and loved ones. Every page from beginning to end will hold your attention and will not disappoint. Nikki Turner stayed on the point and true to her genre with Heartbreak of a Hustler's Wife, and I will be patiently waiting for her next novel.

NEW REVIEW: Regina Hart - Fast Break
Regina Hart -
Fast Break -
Available Now! -
4 out of 5 books -
Jaclyn Jones will do anything to save her basketball team, even if that means taking on the other two owners and the newly hired head coach, ex-NBA star DeMarcus Guinn. Once Jaclyn realizes that she and DeMarcus want the same thing for the Monarchs, these two basketball greats start a romance of their own. However, these new lovers have their work cut out for them on and off the court. DeMarcus has to have a winning season, and Jaclyn has to figure out how to keep her team in Brooklyn.
Fast Break was a unique read by Regina Hart. The main character was a female who owned a professional basketball team. It shows that the hero and heroin can be equal in and out of the bedroom. I felt this was a refreshing twist from all of the other romance books out on the market. Other novels have strong heroines, but Hart made Jaclyn strong and independent without being domineering. Although the story started off a bit slow, the more you read, the more you were drawn into the story. Overall, Fast Break was a good read.

NEW REVIEW: K.L. Brady - The Bum Magnet
K.L. Brady -
The Bum Magnet -
Available Now! -
4.5 out of 5 books -
Real estate agent Charisse Tyson has had 40 years of dealing with sorry men. She has deemed herself the bum magnet. After reading an article in a magazine, she decides to clean out her emotional baggage and work on herself. In the process of "cleaning house," she meets two new men and encounters two men from her past. It seems as if she is destine to continue this cycle of attracting lying, cheating, no good men. However, one man from her past may be able to break that cycle without Charisse even realizing it.
The Bum Magnet by K.L. Brady is an excellent read. Brady does a wonderful job of capturing the struggle that a lot of women go through in trying to find themselves and/or the "right" man. She also did a wonderful job with the character and plot development. The storyline flowed without any lagging moments. Overall, The Bum Magnet is a very enjoyable story!

NEW REVIEW: Tina Martin - Secrets on Lake Drive
Tina Martin
Secrets on Lake Drive

2 out of 5 books
Monica Smith has only experienced love one time and it was when she was in high school. She fell in love with Cornelius Hill, but an unexpected pregnancy and the circumstances thereafter terminated that love affair. She’s moved forward, focusing on her career and is now teaching. Sean Beauvais is good looking, educated, rich, arrogant, and is the father of Monica’s favorite student, Roman. Their initial introduction starts off heatedly as Monica voices her concern at the parent teacher meeting about Sean’s lackadaisical attitude in Roman’s well-being. Their first meeting will not be their last, nor will the verbal sparring with the war of words cease.
Secrets on Lake Drive by Tina Martin is full of misconceptions and deceit. I found it to be very unrealistic, boring, and the storyline drawn out. The ending proved to be quite a twist, but the lack of structure thoughout the read just didn’t prove to make this an interesting read at all. While reading it, I constantly questioned the plot and the mediocre characters were disappointing as well.
