Sherise, Billie and Erica have known each other since they were kids. They have been through everything together...the good, the bad and the ugly. Sherise is career-oriented, but when she has a baby, her husband tries to talk her into being a stay-at-home mom. Sherise is willing to compromise, but refuses to stay at home. She loves the hustle and bustle of her job with all the movers and shakers of Washington, D.C. When a position opens up that could put her closer to the White House, Sherise is determined to do whatever she needs to do to get the job, even if it means flirting a little...or a lot! But what happens when things go too far?

Billie is still dealing with the hurt and betrayal of her husband leaving her for another woman, even though he cannot seem to leave her alone. For some reason she cannot shake the feelings of attraction she has for him, even when he is being nasty and hateful to her. Every time she gives in to him sexually, she feels horrible about it right after. Will she be able to take control of the situation and kick him to the curb for good?

Erica just landed a prestigious new promotion at the Pentagon. Although she does not know how her name came up for the position, she is a little wary of why she was chosen for the job. She also wonders what exactly her new position requires her to do. It seems like her new boss is more interested in her personal life than anything else. The question is why?

Back On Top by Angela Winters was a drama filled story of friendship and lies. A story of three women who are driven to be successful in their careers no matter what. The constant name dropping of famous designer labels did get a bit annoying. There was no suspense to the "big secret" within the story. Some parts of the story were also a little repetitive. All in all, Back On Top was just an okay read.
