College friends are reunited for Troy's 40th birthdays. The entire crew has moved on with their lives despite the flickers of past flames of years gone by. Austen and Lyndsay have married and had twins, but their marital routine has become challenging. Austen’s infidelity and inconsiderate behavior is wearing Lyndsay down especially when she sees Eric again. Troy’s NFL career has ended and he’s yearning for a more settled lifestyle. He and Shay have had an on-going affair that seems to satisfy both of them, but sometimes life brings about a change.
Reunions can be fun, exciting and memorable but they can also be dangerous, hurtful, and awaken thoughts that were buried long ago. Eric’s eyes light up in Lyndsay’s presence. Does Austen have what it takes to keep his family intact? Lyndsay’s heart and friends encourage her to walk on the wild side, but will her common sense and familial instincts steer her on the safe side? Shay has always been Troy’s sidekick whenever he’s in town, but she’s found another that satisfies her itches, aches and pains. Is she tired of being a jump off? Will Shay finally be able to put Troy’s wants behind her needs?
Fannin' Old Flamez by Tracy L. Cooper has a smooth rhythm, but there were no actual waves to cultivate any excitement or adrenaline rush. The character development was good, but there wasn’t anything extraordinary about the plots, storyline or characters.
